In Prague, the capital of Puppet Art was born the new association of all world puppeteers - WAP.
WAP - World Association of Puppeteers has a purpose to unite all puppeteers in one big family.
Goals of WAP are:
-To put together people of different states, nation, cultures, faiths and races through the Puppet Art.
-To encourage children and young people to get self-confidence in their life development.
With puppets raising family values and consolidate relationship between children and parents
-To educate and help puppeteers from developing countries.
-To open the puppet theaters on the places around the world where they don’t exist.
-To afford scholarship for puppet education and workshops in theaters.
-To organize the puppet festivals and other puppet actions in the world for good of puppet art.
-Editing of WAP magazine “Puppet World“ about puppet art world wide.
Also for the first time WAP is organizer of the World Festival of Puppet Art
-Prague 2008 from 1st to 8th June.
WAP Activities for 2008
Spring 2008:
World premiere of multimedia Puppet show "Gypsy never die" in which will be involve artists from 7 countries.
Exhibition:
Slovenian puppet theatre today - a one month exhibition about modern Slovenian puppet theatre which will open during World Festival of puppet art Prague 2008 and lasting one month.
The first meeting of WAP
World Association of Puppeteers
Prague, November 1 to 4 2007.
During this 4 days meeting, the members of board has discussion about main goals of WAP as a non profit organization and had agreed on the following decisions:
-The main office of WAP will be in Czech Republic, Prague, Karlova 44.
-In honor of this event Board of WAP baptized the theatre in Karlova 44 as a WAP theatre.
-For better communication WAP will start a WEB site; the chief editor is Behrooz Gharipour.
-WAP will publish a magazine “World Puppeteers” to evaluate knowledge of Puppet Art; the chief editor will be Bogdan Ulmu.
-To hold workshops – free education courses for members of WAP.
-To produce performances in different countries with same play with the same occasion.
-To organize symposiums and seminars in different subjects of world puppetry.
-To found an archive of puppet art (video, posters, photos, etc).
-To help puppet organizations and festivals worldwide.
-To became the main organizer of 12 edition of the World Festival of Puppet Art, Prague 2008 from 1 to 7 June.
-All the members of WAP Board approve that WAP have to be open “door” for everyone who loves puppet art.
-To put together people of different states, nations, cultures, faiths and races through puppet art. To encourage children and young people to get self-confidence in their life development and with puppet art to evaluate human rights and peace on our planet.
